The Belding Area Schools Transportation Department is dedicated to providing safe and efficient transportation to eligible Belding students to the school they attend from the vicinity of their home.
Our bus drivers work very hard to ensure the bus is a safe and enjoyable environment for all bus riders. Here are a few facts about our department:
We have 19 buses in our fleet. 11 of those buses run on average 29 routes which include our Special Education, ECSE, GSRP and Heartland students.
The Belding Area School District is 104 square miles.
All of our route buses are labeled with an animal to make it easier to remember.
Drivers conduct no less than 3 bus evacuations throughout the year.
We operate a 2-tier system, which means high/middle school students have their own bus route.
Our department consists of 11 full time and 8 substitute bus route drivers, Director Jamie Segorski, Secretary Olivia Russell, and mechanic Robert Doty. All drivers must have:
- A Commercial Driver’s License
- DOT physical
- Pre-employment and ongoing random drug & alcohol testing
- Fingerprinting
- Criminal background check
- Driver license record check
- Mandatory Michigan Department of Education training
- Secretary of State approved “third party” testing
